About Adam Williss

Adam Williss has made it his mission to empower individuals and help them get access to the same simple and effective self-defense concepts used by world-reknowned experts. He delivers on his mission as the author behind “Safe Advice with Adam Williss”, as CEO of Advanced Fighting Concepts and as the founder of Adam Williss Martial Arts & Wellness Institute.

Adam began his training nearly 15 years ago when he stumbled upon an instructor in Florida who would end up changing the way Adam looked at a self-defense situation altogether. The instructor was a local martial artist by the name of Bill Graves. What Bill introduced to Adam was a highly advanced, street self-defense method of Wing Chun. Bill's unique approach to this modern form of Wing Chun came from his innovative teacher, Karl Godwin. Referred to as "Florida Wing Chun" or "The Karl Godwin Method", the approach takes Wing Chun (Bruce Lee's Kung Fu) and integrates concepts from fencing, Tai Chi & Classical Pugilism (original bare-knuckle boxing). Its methods are based upon the natural laws of physics and recognized as being one of the most effective and modern forms of Wing Chun today.

In addition to the Karl Godwin Method, Adam has trained and studied in other methods of Wing Chun/WingTsun, Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo, Krav Maga, Chen Style Tai Chi Chuan, Modern Boxing, Classical Pugilism / Bare-Knuckle Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Muay Thai, Silk-Reeling Qigong (Chi Kung) and Kickboxing.

Today, Adam Williss bases his teachings on the Karl Godwin Method as given to him by Bill Graves. His approach is known to be among the most practical approaches to fighting while his seminars have a distinct bias for functional simplicity.

He has educated, empowered and entertained individuals through his seminars, websites, articles, publications and speaking engagements. A speaker to groups ranging from employees of large corporations to university students, Adam and his work has been featured in several publications both online and in print. As a personal self-defense trainer, he has trained numerous professionals, athletes and corporate executives.

A strong voice for functional simplicity in the martial arts, Adam acts as the editor-in-chief of Wing Chun Magazine. The magazine is dedicated to Wing Chun in all its forms, spellings, lineages, traditions, innovations and modifications. This includes Wing Tsun, WingTsun, Ving Tsun, Jeet Kune Do, and many more.

When not hosting seminars, publishing or writing, Adam can be found at his Orange County, California home studio working with local clients. He also leads local Qigong classes at New Method Wellness in Lake Forest, CA.

Adam serves in top positions of several associations such as President of the California Wing Chun Association and as a Director and State Representative of California for the World Ving Tsun Athletic Association. He was approved for induction in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, is an Associate Member of the International Kung Fu Federation, the International Combat Martial Arts Unions Association, the United States Kuo Shu Federation, Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association and National Qigong Association.
